The TIFRH Library offers an internship program for students pursuing Library and Information Science at recognized universities/institutes in India.
Duration:The internship duration is Up to one month, or as required by the students institution, but not exceeding two months.
Intake: Only one student is accepted at a time; new applications will be considered after the ongoing internship is completed.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Application Process: Applications must be submitted through the Chairperson, Dean, or Head of the respective university/institute. Address applications to the TIFRH Library, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Hyderabad (TIFRH) and email to tifrhlibrary@tifrh.res.in. Applications should be submitted at least one month in advance for approval and confirmation.
Financial Support: TIFRH does not provide financial assistance; students must arrange for their own travel, accommodation, and expenses.
Certification: A certificate will be issued upon successful completion and evaluation of the internship.
What a student can expect to learn during the internship:
1. Practical exposure to day-to-day library operations.
2. Procedures for acquiring library resources; books, e-resources, and dailies.
3. Hands-on experience with the Koha library management system; book circulation using KOHA, patron management, acquisitions, cataloging, renewals, reservations, lists, and report generation. Organizing books according to the Universal Decimal Classification System.
4. Documentation processes for audits.
5. Familiarity with library policies and procedures.
